Fun in the sun
There are sports programmes across the country focussed on engaging disengaged young people. Many focus on inner city deprivation – but deprivation is rife in Britain’s rural areas, and living in disconnected towns can be as hard as life in any depressed city.
Antisocial behaviour can often stem from boredom and lack of opportunity, and this peaks during school holidays. That’s why every Summer Bath Rugby Foundation and Wiltshire Council run their ‘Fun in the Sun’ programme – giving opportunities for high quality sports training to children who wouldn’t otherwise access it. The programme delivers over 100 sessions, working with thousands of Wiltshire’s deprived young people aged 5 to 11.
