Growing up in the rugby hotbed of Cornwall, Rob was destined to be thrust into the sport.

On the pitch Rob is a second row for Stothert & Pitt RFC, on the touchline he is head coach of Bath Spa University women’s side and Rob is also an occasional man in the middle for the Somerset Rugby Union Referee Society.

However, after school Rob didn’t move directly into the world of coaching. From the age of 18 he served for six years with the British Army in the Royal Signals. Serving in Germany, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Bulford. Rob is the proud owner of an Operational medal having been involved in a NATO operation during the Libyan civil war in 2011.

Rob has a string of humorous tales and anecdotes from his time in the military often shared in the office. While in the Army, Rob found himself in the unusual position of lining up at inside centre against current Bath flyer Semesa Rokoduguni who was at outside centre for the opposition.

Away from the rugby pitch Rob is a big fan of pub quizzes, testing his knowledge at any given opportunity.

Rob recently celebrated his third anniversary of working for Bath Rugby Foundation.

“Working for the Foundation is the perfect opportunity to use sport as a key factor in engagement and development of individuals,” said Rob. “It is amazing to see the work that myself and other coaches do with young people making a positive long-lasting impact.”
