Chief Executive Officer

Location Bath - Salary c £60,000

Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club set up to empower young people in Bath and surrounding areas to succeed. We use the values of rugby to inspire young people to create a better future for themselves. Our focus is on improving Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion in the West Country.

Our programmes are tailored to use sport to build confidence, and empower participants to live successful, happy and healthy lives. Our coaches are not just sports coaches, they are mentors. They give dedicated support to motivate, raise self-esteem, increase confidence and improve life skills. Each session combines physical activity with education sessions to change the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community.

We are the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club, formed out of its desire to give back to the community. The Foundation is financially independent, self funding and separately governed, but we work together to use the glamour of the Club to create a legacy, and a lasting positive change in the community.

The charity is well established and we are looking for our first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who has the vision and experience to take the organisation to the next ambitious level. The CEO’s role is to lead and manage the Foundation to ensure that it continues to grow, is wide reaching in its influence and positively benefits everyone affected by its delivery.

You would be joining an established, professional team responsible for leading the delivery, fundraising, finance and communications of the charity throughout Bath, North East Somerset and Wiltshire.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will provide the Foundation with passionate and inspiring leadership, creativity and vision, ensuring that its reputation is consistent with the highest professional standards in everything it does. It is a challenging but highly rewarding role.

Specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the Foundation’s financial viability through excellent cost and budgetary control
  • Increasing existing and delivering new funding streams      
  • Leading the team to achieve measurable targets
  • Reviewing, updating, and implementing the Foundation’s strategic plan
  • Producing and implementing an annual review and business plan
  • Ensuring that the development, quality and effectiveness of the services that the Foundation delivers satisfies the needs of the community it serves
  • Ensuring highly effective communication with the Foundation’s partners both internal, within Bath Rugby Club, and external, developing close relationships with key decision makers
  • Keeping up to date with emerging government initiatives and policies

We are looking for a candidate of degree level education who has strong personal presence and is an excellent communicator and negotiator at all levels. The successful candidate is a proven and astute business and people manager with a track record of running a successful organisation at board level.

An understanding of managing third sector organisations that deliver through a sporting medium would be beneficial. We would equally value a candidate with the capability to be accepted by the local community so that strong long term relationships with key regional groups can be secured.

You will demonstrate the ability to think strategically, deliver measurable outcomes through a team based culture and understand how to work with a Trustee Board.

Foundation Coach

Part time: Wednesday Evening

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: £12 per hour.  All sessions are 1.5 hours. 

Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club set up to empower young people in Bath and surrounding areas to succeed. We use the values of rugby to inspire young people to create a better future for themselves. Our focus is on improving Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion in the South West.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and committed individual who has excellent communication and organisational skills.  Candidates must have a passion for working with children, and young people.   

The Foundation Coach is responsible for delivering the Foundation’s Doorstep Club programme in youth clubs in Bath and the surrounding areas.  The Doorstep Club programme is aimed at engaging hard to reach young people living in deprived areas and uses sport as the key to delivering personal and social development messages.  It is a multisport programme which focusses on a combination of sports and is delivered in a fun and welcoming environment. At the end of each term there are opportunities to take the young people on a range of events and activities which are organised by the Outreach Officer.

Successful candidates must have;

  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Some experience within a pport/community development setting with a proven track record of achieving high quality delivery and outcomes.
  • Experience of working on an inclusive programme of activities that involves and engages hard to reach groups, improving community cohesion.
  • Ability to work as part of a successful Foundation team. 
  • Level 2 Rugby coaching qualification or equivalent Level 2 NGB qualification.
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Enhanced DBS and Safeguarding Certificate.
