Fun and fit club
Children with special educational needs are twice as likely to be obese than children without – and this risk only increases as they get older. Obesity isn’t just bad for their health, it can also mean additional medication or equipment – which can be costly. Fun and Fit Club is a Summer health programme which intervenes to help young people with special educational needs to get better accustomed with the food on their plate – and to give them the opportunity to try sports they haven’t tried before in a friendly, accessible environment. Specially designed by our expert coaches, the programme runs throughout the Summer holidays.
It assesses the needs of our participants, whether their issue is to do with certain textures or colours of foods, or whether it’s a fear or lack of understanding of sport. Our coaches create sessions to help young people to climb over whatever barriers they have to a healthier, happier lifestyle.
